Joanne Hutchinson started Proactive in 2015 with the vision of a Proactive brand of services to assist hospitality and tourism companies and individuals with their needs.

With a combined century of experience in sales, marketing and the hospitality industry the Proactive staff is uniquely placed to provide your establishment with the solutions that you require to maximize on your venue potential.

Our industry engagements and knowledge sharing initiatives are geared to building a stronger and vibrant hospitality industry to benefit all role players.

I am truly privileged to have turned my passion for hospitality into a career.

Over the past 20 years, I have been involved with a variety of establishments ranging from Boutique Hotels, Games Lodges, through to guesthouses.

My primary areas of expertise being Reservations
(Room Revenue), Reservations Audits, Sales & Marketing.

With a strong systems focus, I have been able to ensure results through the implementation of effective processes and a good dose of creativity.

I founded Proactive based on these principles and it continues to be the driving force that underpins our work.

I have more than a decade’s worth of experience in managing reservations and marketing for a variety of establishments.

During this time, I have had extensive exposure to more than 10 property management systems and their integration on property and marketing level.

Combined with extensive training and a thirst for knowledge has ensured that I have a unique skill set to be able to not only establish strategic marketing pathways but also perform in-depth reservations audits and identify requirements for optimisation at the property level.

A degree in Hospitality Management created a strong foundation towards becoming the Hospitality Expert I am today.

My hospitality experience ranges from Events Manager to General Manager at a variety of establishments as well as creating & selling of a well-known Channel Manager.

Over the last 4 years, I have combined this knowledge to create Strategic Marketing plans in-line with each property’s unique revenue streams and brand awareness requirements.

The “organic” nature of the hospitality industry ensures the need to move away from a one size fits all mentality. Real marketing solutions need to be bespoke and address each property individually.

My initial journey into graphic design quickly morphed into associated industries such as media, photography and production roles for corporate marketing.

My photographic work has been used in numerous publications such as The Wine Magazine, Chef Magazine, SA Chef’s Magazine and Evita’s Kossie Sikelela Cookbook.

In 2010 I had the opportunity to combine these skills in the digital environment through web design, online shopping optimisation & social media.

Today I have the ability to understand the online needs of an establishment and integrate the various platforms into one strategic solution that services the specific needs of the client.
